It's been announced that the next series of Doctor Who will be split into two chunks, with one half broadcasting in the spring and the other in the autumn.
Head Writer, Steven Moffat, has asked for the split so he can write a new story arc that will have a big plot twist in the middle. The massive cliffhanger at the end of episode seven will leave the viewers dangling until the autumn to find out what's going to happen.
This means that you won't have to wait a painstakingly long year for the next series. As Steven Moffat says, "For the kids, it will never be more than a few months to the next Doctor Who. Easter, Autumn, Christmas!"
